Sweating Your Prayers

97 degrees and 97 percent humidity is sweaty weather. Your sweat never dries, you are always wet, your clothes are wet, your sheets are damp, you feel sticky, you are praying for a breeze- and yet there is a certain kind of beauty in that weather, it's a conciousness-altering experience- you can't ignore it, but you can learn from it, relax into it, slow down and even enjoy it. I was just getting to that point when it was time to get back on the train and come home to cool and comfortable Olympia, where you have to dance to work up a sweat!

Duncan, your picture is a perfect reminder to me of what that weather can be like. I was born in Chicago and spent the first 10 years of my life near there. I remember well the hot, sticky nights. The only salvation for summers in the midwest was fireflies. I miss them, but I'm glad I live in Olympia.
