Contact Dance Demonstration

During an after workshop house party, the beautiful Alison and Peter demonstrated contact moves they learned together.

It was exciting to watch and I was amazed at their ability to balance, protect each other and enjoy their exploration.

I've done a little contact improv in the class offered at Fusion. I also went to a CI jam in Seattle (they happen every Sunday afternoon at Velocity). I really like it and find that the "moves" in CI influence my dance at waves. I especially like the giving and receiving weight and learning how to follow and trust the momentum of your and your partner's body. During one really wonderful contact dance with a partner, I felt like the dance started becoming its own living entity and our bodies were no longer separate beings, but were just along for the ride on something bigger.
