Bright, Bright Sunshiny Day

Shawn Swanson, 5Rhythm teacher from California visited the Olympia Tribe this week, masterfully spinning his tunes and rocking our worlds at this morning's Inner Wave and Sweat Your Prayers.

His SYP invitation was to meditate upon returning, which he delivered with a gentle, nurturing voice. Wave upon wave he guided us through the mysteries of returning, returning, returning with a great selection of music inspiring release, freedom, deep joy and connection.

I am reminded through this dance of Robert Henri's words, "There are moments in our lives, there are moments in a day, when we seem to see beyond the usual. Such are the moments of our greatest happiness. Such are the moments of our greatest wisdom."

Thanks Visudha for this wonderful testament to the power of a fresh vision like Shawn's that can steer us to new understandings of the dance. It is so thrilling that wave upon wave of exactly these kind of novel perspectives are entering the 5R flow ... HUGE best wishes to you and the others now diving deep into teacher training. Personally I cannot wait to be a dedicated student to as many of you as time & resources allow.

(This is not hollow rhetoric, btw ... as the UK group Faithless points out in intoxicating song, "i want more ... i want more ... you KNOW how i love that stuff").

Thank you also for Robert Henri's words. They resonate precisely with how it feels to have been one of the three dozen who stole away last week to the magic queendom, super-natural Oz, nirvana in the woods and model of sustainable environment that is Breitenbush Hot Springs.

And there we soaked, literally and metaphorically, with Amara and Sara Pagano in the soul waters that flow so regularly with your fortunate tribe. My journal is already running riot with breathless experiences and attempts to capture the inexpressable - that which emerged spontaneously in flow & shape & presence & the healing tears that fuelled the fire of transformation ... A bonfire of the vanities from which stepped a legion of embodied beings in service to their own core & heart values and those they touch in their lives & work.

Today I feel at peace. I feel rooted & clear. I feel blessed. I feel serious about making a difference at last. And, quoth the poet, "such are the moments of our greatest happiness."

So in this space, your endlessly wordy correspondent would like to bow down towards the south, gateway on the medicine wheel to summer's passion, a place of strength and courage, home of the warrior, guarded by the lion, the wolf and the eagle (and some really rather frisky Breitenbush squirrels) ...

south to my friends and carpool pals and all the spirits of the dance I have grown to !LOVE! so dearly with a big-getting-bigger heart that I never remotely imagined beat inside me way down below the primordial layers of fear and orthodoxy ...

And, last but in no way least, south to two of my rare and precious teachers, the prototypical dancing warriors. Long may they rock the house in whatever time zone they inhabit.

To conclude: I am humbled and honoured to be part of a community that is so beautifully big, inclusive and open-hearted. And now that the inevitable personal contraction is following hard on the heels of all that liberating expansion, I feel safe in allowing myself to float back to normality knowing that there is so much more of this path ahead of me in the company of dear fellow travellers & movers -- fresh visions, fresh perspectives, fresh understandings, friends, experiences. The path of connection & reconnection. And how cool is that?

to quote my friend & wise elder Karen: Peace to all.
